This year will be the last in a 26-year run for the Chrysler Town & Country. The Chrysler lineup won't be without a minivan, however. Stepping in to fill the outgoing model's shoes is the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.
It may resemble the Town & Country, but the Pacifica's platform has been designed from scratch by FCA Head of Design Ralph Gilles and his team.
Gilles is passionate about making cars modern and exciting -- evidenced by one of his earlier design triumphs with the Jeep Cherokee.
His struggle with the new Pacifica was not in functionality; he calls vans, "fundamentally perfect in terms of use." Getting the proportions right is as simple as making sure a stack of plywood will fit in the cargo area (we're not kidding! Apparently they use 8x4 foot plywood as a strict guideline).
For Gilles, the challenge in making the Pacifica was to give the van an athleticism and sleek design that could make it cool to drive. His team built a new platform, and with a food foundation, the rest fell into place.
At Dick Poe Chrysler Jeep, we're looking forward to having this sophisticated new vehicle in our inventory.
