The base Wrangler uses a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, which generates 285 horsepower and torque of 260 lb-ft. The engine is capable of delivering enough power for highway-overtaking maneuvers as well as traversing rough terrain. A 6-speed transmission (manual) comes standard, while the 5-speed automatic is optional. Both the transmissions are perfect for smooth shifting.

If incurring extra costs for fuel is not a problem, the Jeep Wrangler is your choice. Its EPA rates are 17 mpg/21 mpg, city/highway, respectively, with any transmissions. When it comes to off-road ventures, the FWD and skid plates will do a perfect job. Therefore, with even the lower Wrangler models, you can sail through any rough terrain. Other Wranglers, such as the Rubicon models, come equipped with excellent off-road features. These features include Locking Rear Differentials and Heavier-Duty Suspensions. Hence, these vehicles can tackle the most daunting topography.

Unfortunately, you cannot translate the wrangler’s off-road prowess into on-road athleticism. Its body tends to roll a bit when taking sharp corners. Nevertheless, the vehicle still does well on the roads.
